The Disappeared to Start Shooting in Nova Scotia in September

Article excerpt

Writer and director Shandi Mitchell will make her feature directorial debut on the film, which will begin shooting this September off the coast of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

Gilles Belanger, Ralph Holt, Walter Forsyth and Karen Franklin of Two Dories Film are set to produce The Disappeared, about six men lost at sea in the North Atlantic.

Astral's The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment's Movie Central have acquired the film for Canadian distribution. Telefilm Canada and Film Nova Scotia helped finance the film and the project was developed with the assistance of the Canada Council For The Arts and the Nova Scotia Department Of Communities, Culture And Heritage.

"Having worked with Shandi for many years, I have the highest regard for her as a filmmaker," Two Dories Film's Belanger said. "We have assembled the best marine and creative crews to shoot this film. It's going to be an exciting adventure."
