IF THERE ARE ANY CONSTANTS in the life of a benefits manager in 2011, they are change and uncertainty.

From the controversial health care reform law to the spread of same-sex marriage to an increasingly diverse and global workforce, benefits managers face a host of new and unpredictable challenges. What will happen to the health care law as it wends its way through the court system? How do I manage benefits for gay and lesbian employees and their partners given the patchwork of state laws on marriage and civil unions? Should I tailor my benefit offerings to the needs and desires of different generations and ethnic groups?
