Martha Marcy Producers Ready Drifter Tale the Low Road

Maybach Cunningham, the California-based production company behind with Sean Durkin's Martha Marcy May Marlene, is preparing its third feature to shoot this year.

The Low Road, to be directed by company co-founder Chris Maybach [who comes from an editing background], is in the process of casting now. It will shoot for five weeks in San Francisco and Sonoma County, California, either later this year or in the first half of 2012.

"There are a whole list of people that we are interested in working with. We have offers out to Nick Nolte and Tom Waits," said Maybach. Richard Kessler wrote the script for the drama, budgeted at $1m.

The story is about a young drifter who passes through his hometown and gets involved with two older locals who are losing their farm.

The company also has two features that recently finished shooting and have moved into post. Both of those could be ready for Sundance consideration. …
