IFC Shopping Spree Lands Sister's Sister, 4:44, Incident

A flurry of Toronto deals emerged late on Wednesday (14) as UTA and Submarine sold Lynn Shelton's Your Sister's Sister to IFC for North and Latin America, StudioCanal for the UK and Madman for Australia and New Zealand in a bundle of deals that amounted to approximately $1.5m.

Earlier in the day IFC confirmed it had acquired North America on Abel Ferrara's 4:44 Last Day On Earth and Oscilloscope announced it had taken North American rights to Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights.

Meanwhile a number or titles were in play, with Lionsgate believed to be circling Friends With Kids and Adam Wingard's Midnight Madness favourite You're Next. IFC was also understood to be pursuing Trishna from frequent collaborator Michael Winterbottom, while other titles drawing attention included post-apocalyptic thriller The Day and high school story Ten Year.

A domestic sale on Hysteria appeared to be imminent after the film's sales agent Cassian Elwes tweeted late on Tuesday that he expected to "wrap up" a sale ahead of the gala screening on Thursday night.

IFC plans a 2012 theatrical release for sibling drama Your Sister's Sister, which stars Emily Blunt, Rosemarie DeWitt and Mark Duplass. Sundance Selects/IFC Films svp of acquisitions and productions Arianna Bocco brokered the deal with Submarine and UTA Independent Film Group.

Bocco concluded the 4:44 deal with Carole Baraton at Wild Bunch on behalf of the filmmakers. The film premiered at Venice and will screen at the New York Film Festival. …
