Donkeys, Neds Lead BAFTA Scotland Film Nominees

Donkeys and Neds lead the film categories in the nominations for the British Academy Scotland Awards which were announced today.

Donkeys, the second of the Advance Party titles after Red Road, has received five nominations including Best Director for Morag Mckinnon, Best Writer for Colin McLaren and Best Actor for both James Cosmo and Brian Pettifer. It will compete in the Best Feature Film category against Neds, which also received Director and Writer nominations for Peter Mullan and a Best Actor nod for Conor McCarron.

Donkeys marked the feature debut of director Morag Mackinnon who also collaborated with writer Colin McLaren on the BAFTA-winning short Home. It tells a poignant, darkly comic story of Alfred, a terminally ill man seeking to make amends for the heartache he has caused throughout his life. Cosmo plays Alfred and Brian Pettifer co-stars as his loyal best friend. …
