Verhoeven's Hit Sequel among Beta's Half Dozen Market Premieres

Beta's AFM slate includes Men In The City II, Summer In Orange, Westwind.

Simon Verhoeven's hit sequel Men In The City II, which has taken over [euro]8.5m at the German box office since being released in September, is among six market premieres being presented at the AFM this week by Beta Cinema.

The Munich-based sales agent is also premiering Markus Rosenmüller's culture clash comedy Summer In Orange which has clocked up over [euro]3m so far on general release and the family animation film Princess Lillifee and the Little Unicorn which has attracted almost 600,000 admissions and over [euro]3.2m in takings in its first six weeks of release.

In addition, Beta is giving its first market screenings for Robert Thalheim's latest feature Westwind, based on a true story set in Hungary a year before the fall of the Berlin Wall, which was released by Zorro Film in Germany at the end of August and will be the opening film on November 23 for this year's Festival of German Films in Paris; Hermine Huntgeburth's new take on the Mark Twain classic Tom Sawyer which Majestic Film will be releasing in German cinemas on November 17; and for the documentary Francesco And The Pope with a 'behind the scenes' look at life in the Vatican through the eyes of a nine-year-old chorister in the Cappella Musicale Pontificia. …
