NFDC Boards Mukherjee's Tasher Desh

Film Bazaar organiser the National Film Development Corp (NFDC) has boarded Bengali filmmaker Kaushik Mukherjee's Tasher Desh, one of a growing number of international co-productions on the organisation's slate.

Currently in production, the film is an adaptation of a dance drama by renowned Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. NFDC is co-producing with Mumbai-based Anurag Kashyap Films, Kolkata-based Overdose and Belgium's Entre Chien et Loup

Kaushik Mukherjee (aka Q) previously directed award-winning Gandu about the friendship between two drop-outs who bond over drugs and rap music.

NFDC currently has a slate of around 20 films in 11 Indian languages in various stages of production. International co-productions also include Punjabi-language Qissa, with Germany's Heimatfilm and other European producers. …
