Turn over a New Leaf

Article excerpt

The fallen leaves on your lawn needn't be another task on your to-do list. Instead of raking, see the colorful foliage through your children's eyes-suddenly a chore is transformed into a giggle-inducing game. Have the kids spread out across the lawn and rake the leaves around them into a pile (little ones can use their hands). They get 30 seconds to collect as many different-colored leaves as they can-red, orange, yellow, green, brown, so many colors to look for! The one who gathers the most colors wins. Ready for more? Give one child a quarter and have him hide it in a pile of leaves. The other players have one minute to dive into the pile and find the coin. Hurry! Whoever finds it first gets to keep it!
