Want your kids to eat better and engage more at the table? Every once in a while, serve up the unexpected (don't worry, these are easy). Have a party buffet. Let kids make table decorations with construction paper, markers and tape. Then serve dinner buffet-style-crudités and dip, heat-and-eat mini hot dogs, shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers. When you've all taken your pick, turn on some music and party hearty. Picnic in the house. Spread a blanket on the living room floor and set out food on picnic plates with colorful napkins. Picnics are always festive, even indoors. As for the ants, use your imaginations. Do a crazy-dinner night. Older kids can plan it: maybe all foods of one color; or dessert first, then main course, then appetizer; or breakfast for dinner.
