BFI to Present Restored Rare Hitchcock Films with New Scores

As part of London 2012 festival, composers including Nitin Sawhney [pictured] will work on new scores for early Hitchcock films.

The BFI is planning a series of one-off screenings of Hitchcock's British silent films from the 1920s as part of the London 2012 Festival.

The films have been restored by the BFI National Archive, and will have newly commissioned scores from British contemporary musical talents.

Nitin Sawhney is writing a score to accompany The Lodger: A Tale of The London Fog (1926) to be performed at the Barbican Hall on July 21. he score will be performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and iscommissioned by independent film distributor Network Releasing in partnership with the BFI.

Young composer Daniel Patrick Cohen will create the new score for The Pleasure Garden (1925), to be performed by The Royal Academy of Music's Manson Ensemble at Wilton's Music Hall on June 28-29. …
