Sundance Update: Magnolia Takes US Rights to Compliance

The deals continued to roll in on Saturday (28) as Magnolia acquired Craig Zobel's thriller following their previous collaboration on Great Wall Of Sound.

Sophia Lin, Lisa Muskat, Tyler Davidson, Theo Sena and Zobel produced the provocative film about the limits of authority. Ann Dowd and Dreama Walker star.Magnolia svp of acquisitions Dori Begley negotiated the deal with John Sloss and Dana O'Keefe of Cinetic Media. Magnolia said it planned a theatrical release later this year.

The distributor is also understood to have acquired 2 Days In New York, Julie Delpy's follow-up to 2 Days In Paris. Delpy stars with Chris Rock and Christophe Mazodier produced. Magnolia negotiated the deal with CAA on behalf of the producer. Rezo Films holds international rights.

Earlier in the day Magnolia acquired Nobody Walks starring Olivia Thirlby in the tale of a visiting artist who blows like a thunderstorm through the Los Angeles home of her Silverlake hosts. Red-hot Submarine, enjoying its best ever festival, represented North American sales and negotiated the deal with Magnolia. …
