Viaplay Strikes Walt Disney Nordic and Sony Pictures Television Deals

Agreements will give online pay-TV service access to the likes of Salt, Easy Rider, Tangled and Pretty Woman in Nordic territories.

Online pay TV service Viaplay, part of Modern Times Group, has announced new license agreements with The Walt Disney Company Nordic and Sony Pictures Television, making over 500 movies available for subscribers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

Over 300 library titles, including Salt, Eat Pray Love and Easy Rider, will be available as part of the Sony deal, while over 200 library titles, including Tangled, Prince Caspian and Pretty Woman, will be available as part of the Disney deal. In addition, over 600 titles from the two studios will be made available during 2012 to any subscriber with access to Viaplay's film service.

Niclas Ekdahl, CEO of Viaplay, said: "Disney and Sony Pictures are two of the largest movie studios in the world, and our feature line-up will now include even more of their hugely successful movie titles. …
