WELSH SET UP £15M FUND

Short-term support for businesses

The Welsh Government has set up a £15m fund to provide short-term, fast-track support to businesses. The Economic Growth Fund will give Welsh firms access to capital investment to create and retain jobs. It is expected to assist more than 100 businesses and create up to 1,000 jobs. Grants need to be spent before the end of December 2012.

HELP FOR SCOTS STUDENTS

More money for post-graduates

The Scottish Government has increased the amount of support available to postgraduate students. An additional 2,300 students will be eligible for loan support of up to £3,400 towards the cost of their tuition fees, costing the government a maximum of £7.8m. Previously, only 2,700 students a year had been eligible for funding through the Postgraduate Student Allowances Scheme.
