FISCAL HELP FOR RSHERIES

Cash to help communities diversify

Thirteen Scottish councils are to share in a £7.6m funding pot that will help boost fishing communities. Eligible councils have set up fisheries local action groups to allocate their share of the funding. It is hoped the money will help areas dependent on the fishing industry to diversify, promoting enterprise and skills in areas such as tourism, the food and drink industry and renewable energy.

ANTRIM STATION UPGRADE

Bus and railway in £2.9m refit

Antrim railway and bus station is to benefit from a £2.9m upgrade, Northern Ireland Regional Development minister Danny Kennedy has announced. It will be fitted out with environmentally sustainable features including solar panels and a naturally insulated roof. The European Union is contributing more than £500,000 to the cost with the remainder being met by Northern Ireland's Department for Regional Development. …
