Melancholia Wins Best Film at Danish Bodil Awards

A Funny Man wins four prizes.

On Saturday the Danish Film Critics Association awarded its top Bodil prize for Best Danish Feature to Lars von Trier's Melancholia.

It was von Trier's second Bodil in a row, after Antichrist in 2010, and it was the seventh in his career he was not there to receive, this time at Copenhagen's Bremen, where his closest competitor was Martin P Zandvliet's A Funny Man, the biopic of Danish top comedian Dirch Passer.

Zandvliet's local No 1 blockbuster won for Best/Best Supporting Actors (Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Lars Ranthe), adding the new Henning Bahs prize for Best Stage Design (Charlotte Bay Garnov, Peter Grant) and the Audience Prize. 77-year-old Danish actress Ghita Nørby left with a Life Achievement Bodil - she has previously picked up four for her 140 films.
