SPC Gets Smashed, IFC Midnight Falls for Grabbers

Two late Sundance deals have closed, with SPC taking worldwide rights to Smashed and IFC Midnight acquiring North and Latin America on Grabbers.

James Ponsoldt directed Smashed, which impressed when it premiered in Park City in January and follows a hard-partying couple whose lives change when the woman contemplates a life of sobriety.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aaron Paul, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and Megan Mullally star and Like Crazy duo Jonathan Schwartz and Andrea Sperling of Super Crispy Entertainment produced.

SPC negotiated the deal with UTA and CAA on behalf of Super Crispy Entertainment and attorneys Lawrence Kopeikin and Elsa Ramo.

IFC Midnight brokered the Grabbers deal with Samantha Horley for The Salt Company and Jay Cohen for Gersh on behalf of the filmmakers.

Jon Wright directed the comedy about two mismatched police officers who investigate a spate of missing fisherman off the coast of Ireland. …
