Special Expertise Panels Get a Makeover

The Society for Human Resource Management's (SHRM) Special Expertise Panels, which provide HR expertise from members who identify important HR topics, were reorganized for 2012.

The 12 SHRM panels were slimmed to six. Since SHRM officials find metrics important to all functional areas of HR, members of the former Human Capital Measurement/HR Metrics Special Expertise Panel will participate in other panel discussions via SHRM Connect and will serve as guest speakers for the other panels, said Laurie McIntosh, director of member engagement at SHRM.

Each panel consists of six to 15 SHRM members in good standing. Panelists serve for one year, with the option to renew membership for a second year.

"These are HR professionals who have at least eight years' experience in their areas. These are the ones in the HR trenches," McIntosh said.

One panel member serves as a co-leader in each group, along with a designated SHRM staff member.

Panelists meet virtually four to six times annually and in person at the SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition in June. …
