Reissue Series from EMI Music Japan

Readers of this journal no doubt recall those high quality facsimile jazz LP reissues from Japan in the 1970s and 1980s. Well before the advent of Fantasy's OJC reissue program, Japanese companies kept collectors supplied with a steady stream of modern jazz classics from Blue Note, Contemporary, Prestige, World Pacific, and similar labels. A recent series from EMI Japan continues the tradition with CD releases from well-known and obscure jazz labels including Capitol, Colpix, Dial, FM, Intro, Jazz West, Jubilee, Pathé, Roost, Roulette, World Pacific, Sue, and so on. All of these are straight reissues of the original LPs with no additional tracks. The original covers are reproduced on the CD inserts, and the tray cards have the original liners, though you'll literally need a magnifying glass to read them. Personnel and song titles are printed in English on the reverse side of the inserts, but the inside notes are all in Japanese. …
