Ashcroft & Ronquillo Show

Meyer Gallery presents new paintings by Jeff Ashcroft and Fatima Ronquillo this month. While Ashcroft creates landscapes and figurative works, he is also known for his imaginative still lifes that include subject matter ranging from shiny green apples to a pair of well-worn sneakers. For him, fine art is about making sense of our inner selves. Ronquillo is a self-taught painter who believes, in similar fashion, that paintings not only mirror the world around us but also open doors into our interior realms. In her current body of work, she explores the surreal aspects of the isolated eye and the idea that physical dismemberment can be a symbol of an estrangement or removal from a loved one. The show runs through April 23. For more information: 435.649.8160 or www.meyer

Rogers & Allen Show

This month Gallery Mar celebrates its expanded gallery space and move to 436 Main Street with a show of paintings by Ronald Ray Rogers and Maura Allen. Rogers creates atmospheric, moody scenes, often casting his creative eye on trees in the landscape, while the dominant theme in Allen's work is the mythology of the West. To create her serigraphs, she relies on 20 years of experience in black-andwhite photography. Cowboys, horses, and ranch life are among her favorite subjects. The show is on view through April 20.
