GREEN BANK GOES NORTH

Investment bank HQ in Edinburgh

The UK Green Investment Bank will be headquartered in Edinburgh and complemented by a transaction team based in London. Business Secretary Vince Cable said the Scottish capital had a thriving green sector and financial expertise and the arrangement would allow the bank greater reach. Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond said the decision was 'great news for Edinburgh's economy and for Scotland's thriving low-carbon sector'.

Go-ahead for Welsh councils move

Caerphilly and Merthyr Tydfil councils have been given the go-ahead to develop a joint procurement service. The arrangement will come into being by September and will cover the purchasing of small office items to multi-million pound contracts.
