Romania's Adrian Sitaru Planning First English Language Film with UK's Vernon Films

Anca Damian, whose animated documentary Crulic won the Grand Prix in Annecy, also now in post on her English language debut.

Romanian filmmaker Adrian Sitaru [pictured], known on the international festival circuit for such films as Hooked and Best Intentions, is now preparing his English language debut with an adaptation of Fiona Campbell's acclaimed novel Death Of A Salaryman.

The film centres on a reserved family man and researcher at a TV corpopration whose life changes dramatically when he tries to survive losing his job on his 40th birthday.

With an estimated budget of £4m, the production by Mara Adina's UK-based Vernon Films will be co-produced with Romania's Monica Lazurean-Gorgan of 4 Proof Film who previously worked with Sitaru on his feature films Best Intentions and Domestic.

Moreover, Vernon Films and 4 Proof Film had already collaborated on Ilinca Calugureanu's documentary Chuck Norris vs. Communism.

Lazurean-Gorgan was Romania's Producer on the Move in Cannes last month and participated in the festival's L'Ateiler of the Cinéfondation with Adina Pintilie's Touch Me Not which she is planning as a four-country co-production. …
