Article excerpt

Political thriller Vatican as well as Ernst Gossner's romantic drama The Silent Mountain are among Screenbase's new additions.

Kristin Scott Thomas, André Dussollier and Sergi Lopez are headlining the cast for Laurent Herbiet's Vatican, which is set against the backdrop of a Vatican power struggle. The script by Laurent Herbiet, Michel Despratx, Nathalie Hertzberg and Christian Roux is loosely inspired by Gianluigi Nuzzi's book His Holiness: The Secret Papers of Benedict XVI as well as young Swiss Guard Cédric Tornay, who murdered a senior officer and his wife in 1998 and then allegedly committed suicide.

The $8m production is co-produced by France's Loull Production and Italy's Urania Pictures and will shoot in Rome and Switzerland in June 2013.
