Fyzal Boulifa's the Curse Wins Fujifilm Shorts Competition

Screen Star of Tomorrow Fyzal Boulifa won the Best Film prize for The Curse, Adam Etherington picked up the Best Cinematography award for The World Turns.

The Fujifilm Shorts 2012 short film competition has announced its winners, with Fyzal Boulifa's The Curse taking the Best Film prize and Adam Etherington winning the Best Cinematography award for his work on The World Turns. Boulifa was named one of Screen's Stars of Tomorrow for 2012.

Produced by Gavin Humphries of Quark Films and Karim Debbagh, and backed by Film4 and the BFI, The Curse won the Premier Prix Illy for Short Filmmaking in Cannes this year. It centres around a woman who is hounded by villagers after she is discovered to have had an affair with an older man.

Etherington's The World Turns centres around a van driver trying to rebuild his life after an accident. …
