The gold rush in Alaska and the Yukon in the late 19th century brought with it thousands of individuals hoping to strike it rich. It also brought a network of supplies and services and more people north to fulfill those needs. In this volume, archaeologists, historians and ethnologists discuss their interlinking studies of the towns, trails and mining districts that figured in the northern gold rushes, including a first account of the archaeology of 20th-century gold mining sites in Alaska or the Yukon and such famous sites such as the Chilkoot Trail.
