The Dark Knight Rises Up to $248M Internationally

Christopher Nolan's third Batman film grossed an estimated $122.1m on approximately 17,000 screens in 57 markets through Warner Bros Pictures International. Fox International's Ice Age 4 crossed $500m and SPRI's The Amazing Spider-Man has swept past $400m.

The Dark Knight Rises has now amassed over $537m worldwide. It opened in France on $11.3m ([euro]9.3m) from 892 screens including previews and took $9.9m ([euro]8.2m) in Germany. Both results included previews.

The film arrived in Mexico on $9.8m (Ps 133.4m) from 1,141 screens, Russia on $8.7m (Rbl 285.5m) from 1,310 screens, Brazil on $6.6m (R13.4m) from 931 screens and Saturday opener Japan on $6m (¥460.7m) including previews.

The UK led the second weekend holdovers on $10.6m (£6.8m) from 598 for $47m (£30.2m), followed by South Korea on $6.7m (KRW 7.6bn) from 796 screens for $27.2m (KRW 31.2bn), Australia on $7.8m (A$7.6m) from 628 screens for $27.5m (A$26.8m) and Spain on $2.2m ([euro]1.8m) from 610 screens for $8.6m ([euro]7.1m).

Fox International reported that Ice Age 4 added $49.4m for $514.1m, boosted by a $15.7m number one launch in China and $3.1m in South Korea from 501 for third place and Fox's biggest animated launch. Ice Age 4 scored the biggest debut in history for an animated film in India, where it opened in second place on $1.5m from 238.

The latest Blue Sky Studios smash stands at $47.7m in Germany after four weekends and $42.7m in Mexico and $42.3m in France, both after five. Ice Age 4 has amassed $40.9m in Russia after three, $40.8m in Brazil after five, $39.2m in the UK after three and $26.7m in Australia after five.

Latin America continues to be a rewarding region this summer and the film has grossed $26.4m in Argentina after five and opened strongly in Venezuela on $1.5m from 138.
