Five-Minute Interview: Nancy Chambers

Nancy Chambers is the risk manager for the Ontario-based Waterloo Regional Municipal Insurance Pool. A graduate of the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) program, she received the 1990-1991 awards for the highest marks of CRM graduates in Ontario and Canada, as well as the 1992 K-W Adjusters Award for honors in the Insurance Institute Associate program. A former associate for the University of Toronto's CRM program, Chambers also participated in the development of the Sheridan College Risk Analyst Program.

Chambers is currently serving as RIMS' vice president-conferences. She has also served as vice president-treasurer, as chair of RIMS' education committee, and on her local chapter's board of directors. Chambers was selected as the first Canadian risk manager to participate in the Spencer Education Foundation "Risk Manager in Residence" program, lecturing at Temple University in October 1999.

1. What is the top issue you will be dealing with as a RIMS executive committee member this year?

The conference in Chicago. As vice president of conferences, I'm working with both the conference programming committee and the exhibits advisory committee. We're working to make it the best it can be. Chicago is a good draw. …
