Europeans Blank Americans in Industry Golf Tournament

The fourth annual international information industry golf tournament, known as the ThompsonHogan Salver, was held December 12, 1997, following the Online Information '97 conference in London. The European team shut out the Americans by a score of 12 points to zero.
The European victory was their first in the series. The American teams have won all three previous tournaments by the identical score of 10 points to 2.
The European team was captained by Geoffrey Thompson of Thompson Henry Limited, who defeated Scott Roulet of WavePhore Newscast. His partner, Graham Ball of Berryman Ball Ltd., won a seesaw battle against Tom Hogan of Information Today, Inc., the captain of the American team.
In the other foursome, Tim Smartt of UMI International enjoyed a measure of revenge by defeating Harry Allcock of IFI/Plenum, who had defeated Smartt in the previous outing. Simon Orme of Simon Orme and Associates completed the European sweep by beating a newcomer to the tournament, Waights Henry of WavePhore Newscast. …
