Bryan Sivak has been appointed the new chief technology officer for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Sivak, formerly Maryland's chief innovation officer, replaces Todd Park, who was named federal chief technology officer in March.


Bruce Wagstaff is now director of the Santa Clara County Social Services Agency. Ann Edwards has taken over Wagstaff's role as administrator of the Sacramento County wide Services Agency.


OnJuIy 1, Lorita Shirley became the new director of child protection for Hillsborough County, Florida.


Phyllis Gilmore is the secretary of the Kansas Department of Children and Families, which has replaced the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS). Four program areas of the department have been renamed - Children and Family Services to Prevention and Protection Services, Child Support Enforcement to Child Support Services, Economic and Employment Support to Economic and Employment Services, and Rehabilitation Services to Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services merges the former Department on Aging, the SRS Disability and Behavioral Health Services Division and parts of the Health Occupations Credentialing Division.


Susan W. (Suzy) Sonnier is now the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Social Services. On June 22, Ruth Johnson resigned that position; she will be taking on the role of deputy director for finance and administration at the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. …
