I grew up surfing in Southern California and got hooked on crabbing at a friend's home in Beltingham, Washington. His dad was a surgeon, but he had a fishing boat and trapped crab on weekends. Years later, when I quit a corporate job, I was stilL thinking about that lifestyle. "J Next, I worked up on Washington's Puget Sound and fell in love with the region's handmade longboats. So when my wife and I moved to San Francisco, we found ahorne that let me stitch together all those passions. I built a fourman Hawaiian outrigger sailing canoe in our garage - it took me two years. Now, I'll see a few clients in the morning and then paddle under the Golden Gate Bridge at lunch, among the whales and the porpoises. We drop crab traps off Baker Beach right near our home, and my two daughters love coming out in the boat and helping. …
