SPRI Expects Resident Evil 5 to Prosper in Holdover Weekend

Sony Pictures Releasing International's Resident Evil: Retribution has amassed $69m since it launched last weekend and opens in around eight new markets.

Mexico is expected to be the pick of the crop as SPRI executives anticipate solid debuts. There is every indication that holdover business will flourish as the horror thriller enters its second weekend given that the previous entry went on to amass more than $236m at the international box office.

Premium Rush arrives in Spain and nine other markets. Total Recall has grossed $115.3m and The Amazing Spider-Man $487.6m.

Universal Pictures International's The Bourne Legacy stands at $93.8m while Ted has amassed $192.5m.
