European Premiere of Jakimowski's Imagine to Open Warsaw Film Festival

28th edition runs Oct 12-21 and will screen 200 features and shorts from 55 countries.

Andrzej Jakimowski's Imagine [pictured] will receive its European premiere as the opening film of the 28th Warsaw Film Festival, which runs Oct 12-21.

Jakimowski's drama, which world premiered in Toronto, is one of 200 features and shorts from 55 countries that will screen at this year's festival. The European premiere of Jan Hrebejk's The Holy Quaternity will close the festival.

18 features, including Imagine, will compete in the festival's International Competition which will be juried by Et Hu, founder and artistic director of Beijing-based Film Factory, producer Katia Filippova, director Ahmet Boyacioglu, producer Jozsef Berger and director Greg Zglinski whose Courage won two awards at last year's festival. Jesper Ganslandt's Blondie, Paula van der Oest's The Domino Effect, Reza Dormishian's Hatred and Tudor Giurgiu's Of Snails And Of Men are among the other titles in contention.

This year's edition will also feature four other competitive sections and five non-competitive sections. …
