Senna director Asif Kapadia [pictured] to mentor winner of competition, which is backed by Ridley Scott.

Nicholas Pratt has been named the winner of a short 3D film competition run by Nintendo and the BFI.

The competition, titled a Vision in 3D, invited filmmakers from throughout the UK to submit shorts focused around the theme of 'British Summer 2012', shot only using the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL.

Pratt, a 20 year-old student of Japanese at London's SOAS, will now be mentored by AV innovator Stuart Warren-Hill and director Asif Kapadia.

He will also shoot a new short film on location in London, in collaboration with Warren-Hill and a professional crew, which will be screened before the Nintendo Gala UK premiere of The Sapphires on Oct 15. …
