Students are to be taught a raft of production skills as part of a wide ranging training partnership between Sky and the National Film and Television School.

The Broadcast Production course will run in collaboration with Sky's Broadcast Operations department from February, and will train 12 students a year to work in a multicamera studio environment as a vision mixer, camera/lighting or sound specialist.

Bursaries are available to help students fund the £7,000 course, which will be taught at the NFTS and at Sky Studios, and includes a six-week internship with the broadcaster. One student each year will land a paid role at Sky.

Sky managing director of entertainment, news and broadcast operations Sophie Turner Laing [pictured] said the broadcaster had a duty to invest in talent as well as content. …
