The University Library of the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill announced the appointment of Timothy McGeary as head of library systems. In this position, he will manage the Library Systems Department. He will plan, budget, and set policy for information resources.

Most recently, he served as manager of library technology at Lehigh University. Before that, he was Lehigh's senior systems specialist.

Montana State University Library announced that Kenning Arlitsch has been named dean of the Montana State University Library.

Currently, Arlitsch is the associate dean for information technology services at the University of Utah, where he leads a team responsible for IT and digital library development. His previous experience includes serving as the head of information technology, head of digital technologies, and technology instruction librarian. He completed a sabbatical with OCLC and has worked at the U.S. embassy as a USIA/ALA International Fellow. Arlitsch founded the multistate Mountain West Digital Library and the Utah Digital Newspapers and cofounded the Western Soundscape Archive and the Western Waters Digital Library, which is a program of the Greater Western Library Alliance.

The Naperville Public Library in Illinois announced that it has filled three positions. The new marketing manager is Kim Neidermyer. She will coordinate the library's marketing, design, and programming activities. Before this, she was marketing coordinator at Joliet Public Library.

The new ILS system administrator, Mary Golden, will be responsible for the library's automation system. Prior to this, she was technology librarian at the Joliet Public Library.

The new business librarian at Nichols Library is Kent Palmer. In this position, he will assist business patrons to use library resources to help manage finances. Previously, he had various positions in the insurance and financial services industries.

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) announced the election results for 2012-2013. Barbara Preece, dean of the library at California State University- San Marcos, will become chair of NISO for the 2012-2013 term. Heather Reid has been elected to serve as vice chair of the board of directors and will become chair in the 2013-2014 term. Reid is director of data systems at the Copyright Clearance Center and currently serves as a member of NISO's board of directors. …
