House elected police chief constable

Strathclyde police chief Stephen House has been appointed chief constable of the new Police Service of Scotland, which comes into being next April. He will work with National Force Authority chair Vic Emery, who said House would bring 'a wealth of experience' to the role.


Poots seeks reply to care reforms

Northern Ireland Health Minister Edwin Poots has called for a wide-ranging response to his consultation on health and social care reforms, Transforming Your Care. The proposals focus on prevention and early intervention, and 'are about improving service delivery, not cuts', said Poots. The consultation ends in January.
