Man of Steel Exec Lloyd Phillips Dies Aged 63

The New Zealander recently served as executive producer on the upcoming summer release The Man Of Steel. He died of a heart attack in Los Angeles on Jan 25. He was 63.

"Lloyd was quite talented in all aspects of filmmaking, which is why he had success both as a creative producer and as a physical line producer," said his fellow producer on Man Of Steel Chuck Roven, who has made three films with Phillips.

"Our working relationship spanned over 20 years, as did our wonderful, action-packed, sometimes-turbulent-but-never-dull friendship."

Phillips was born in South Africa and raised in New Zealand. He started out as a photojournalist and studied at the National Film School in England.

He moved to Malibu approximately 30 years ago and served as executive producer, producer or co-producer on Inglorious Basterds, The Legend Of Zorro, The Tourist, Beyond Borders, Vertical Limit, The Edge and Twelve Monkeys, to name a few. …
