Jeremy Rifkin is a well-respected commentator on global and technological change and in his latest book he argues that we are living through the dying days of the Second Industrial Revolution, an unsustainable bubble-economy based on rapidly diminishing reserves of fossil fuels. Given the unmistakable sounds the global economy is making as it crashes and burns, his starting points are persuasive and uncontentious.
