MUSIC Locked Down Nonesuch) is the latest album from New Orleans' Dr John (aka Mac Rebennack). Though given a big production by the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, It's got a great edge of nostalgia to it. Meanwhile, over at Norway's prestigious Rune Grammofon label, Susanna Wallumrad's (left) Wild Dog is a stripped-back masterpiece with some striking collaborators, chief among them Pakistani multi-instrumentalist Shazad Ismaily. And a special treat fnrrun for cumbia fans: Cumbia, Cumbia (World Circuit) is a double CD of some of the best stuff recorded for Colombia's Discos Fuentes label. Strictly speaking, this is a re-release of two earlier albums, but the pristine remastering of 1960s dance grooves is irresistible.

FILM Lisa Aschen's engaging coming-of-age drama She Monkeys subtly explores sexual identity and self-assertion in a teenage girl, and her pre-teen sister. Radu Mihaileanu's The Source is a vibrant overflowing tale with song, dance, poignancy and drama about a women's campaign and sex strike to get water piped to their Moroccan village. Town of Runners looks at teenage athletes' prospects of escaping rural poverty in Bekoji, the home town of most of Ethiopia's newly wealthy, world-beating athletes. …
