Fearmongering, apathy and poweriessness - these are just some of the attitudes that United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ) is challenging with its latest initiative, the Iran Pledge of Resistance. With over 5,000 signatures, the Pledge calls on US citizens and community organizations to help prevent a war with Iran. Using sit-ins, street theatre and peaceful protests, they are urging the public to act on an issue they say has been poorly reported by the mainstream media.

'All US intelligence agencies have confirmed... that Iran is not building nuclear weapons,' says Samantha Miller, a member of the Pledge's co-ordinating committee. 'But what we're seeing in headlines and in Congress and the Senate is that they're on the verge of building a nuclear weapon and we have to stop them. …
