Amour Fou Readies Hausner Shoot

Shooting starts Monday (Feb 11) in Luxembourg on Jessica Hausner's new feature film Amour Fou, which will be the first project to go into production for the Amour Fou label.

The label was created last September after the merger of Vienna's Amour Fou Filmproduktion and Luxembourg's Minotaurus Film to develop, finance and distribute films together.

The film is being produced with Coop99 Filmproduktion and Essential Filmproduktion, with The Coproduction Office handling international sales.

Described as "a parable on the ambivalence of love," Amour Fou is inspired by the life and death of the poet-dramatist Heinrich von Kleist and his partner in death, Henriette Vogel, and will also shoot at the spot by Berlin's Wannsee lake where the lovers committed suicide.

Christian Friedel, who was the young teacher in Michael Haneke's The White Ribbon, is cast as Kleist opposite Birte Schnöink as Henriette. …
