Revolution doesn't have to be just about regime change; sometimes it can simply mean going around and around. It's probably the latter definition that really gets Revolution Disco spinning, although there's a good dose of agit pop in there, too. The thinking behind this CD's 15 songs is that the deeper the national misery, the more abandoned the music will be. Not, perhaps, a theory that will keep political scientists awake, but a feel-good recipe devised by two Berlin residents: Ukrainian DJ/musician Yuriy Gurzhy and writer and mayoral candidate Wladimir Kamincr, the free spirits behind the city's popular Russendisko dance events.

Unsurprisingly, the revolution here is mostly eastern European. …
