One family-friendly title at Filmart features Gregory Popovich sharing the spotlight with dozens of rescued cats and dogs.

The independent not-yet-finished Chaplin-esque comedy, Popovich And The Voice Of The Fabled American West, is the only film touted at Filmart that features 35 animals, most of which are cats and dogs rescued from the pound in Las Vegas.

It is probably also the only film that has a booth all to itself that is staffed by a producer rather than a sales agent.

"The brothers (co-directors Mike and Jerry Thompson) had a previous movie that they distributed in the traditional way and did not get the results they wanted, so we decided to represent it ourselves," said Todd Hailstone, explaining why he was directly representing the film.

He produced Popovich with the leading man, Moscow-born juggler and animal trainer Gregory Popovich, and May May Luong. …
