Transitions are opportunities for a Janus-like view. With this issue of Liberal Education, we look back at Paula Brownlee's presidency through an interview in which she reflects on the past years at AAC&U. Under her guidance, the journal undertook the task of intentionally providing our members with a forum where their voices would be heard and their interests represented. Construed in this way, the journal has opened a window onto campus initiatives responsive to local situations and the national educational environment.

With the appointment of Carol Schneider as president, the Board recognizes the qualities of mind demonstrated in her writing, directing projects, and speaking: the reform of the major, interdisciplinarity, contemporary general education, and diversity in higher education. The influence of these projects on campuses augurs well for the future of the association under her leadership. …
