Finally, a CGI (Common Gateway Interface) book that tells you why you are using CGI in the first place. This is not an introductory text. And while it is not a programming book per se, it is a programmer's book, and knowledge of a UNIX-based language is needed to use it fully. Four chapters of background are given so laymen can grasp the major concepts. Programming sources are provided in an appendix.

The strength of this book is that it tells why things are done and not just how. The first four chapters begin with concepts and acronyms and move on to knowing a URI from a URL and how CGI is different from HTML.
