Normally, we wouldn't be reviewing a privately issued CD by a regional dance band with minimal jazz content in these pages, but there are two reasons for an exception: the leader and the singer. Brad Walker, at age 25, an enthusiast of the Swing Era, and with experience in both the 'ghost' Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller bands, is doing his best to keep the style alive and relevant with his Knoxville based orchestra. This CD, recorded live at the Cherokee Country Club, is a tribute to Jerry Collins who led the house band there for some 48 years (!) before retiring in 1997. Three musicians from that band perform on this recording.

Brad handles some of the arrangements, but also relies on some from the Miller and Dorsey libraries as can be seen from some of the tune selections. …
