I was running through a batch of compact discs that needed to be reviewed and one after the other just didn't seem to do anything for me. Then I put on this CD and all at once the old became new again. I just listened as one tune followed the other and being familiar with the material, it not only brought back some very pleasant memories but it also struck me just how good the music was from this period. Much of this material is from the 1950s. One more thing struck me as I listened and that is although Duke Ellington is not performing on this disc, he is represented by being the composer of two of the twelve songs. …
