Doc/Fest Names MeetMarket Filmmakers

The filmmakers taking part in Sheffield Doc/Fest's MeetMarket pitching forum have been announced.

The forum runs from June 13-14 and organises around 1,000 meetings between filmmakers and international decision makers in documentary and digital funding.

This year's MeetMarket attracted a record 614 applications, has invited 63 project teams - including six cross platform - from 18 countries.

Among the filmmakers taking part are Alex Gibney, Franny Armstrong, Victor Kossakovsky, Ben Lewis, Brian Hill, Joshua Oppenheimer, Marshall Curry and Johan Grimonprez, Jeannie Finlay and Phil Grabsky.

Each project can expect around 16 scheduled meetings. To date, 258 decision makers have confirmed attendance, up from 239 last year.

For a second year, the EBU Documentary Group will meet at Doc/Fest enabling commissioning editors from across Europe to join the decision makers who have so far confirmed attendance.

Other international delegations confirmed are Algeria, Armenia, Australia, Israel, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Russia, South Africa, South Sudan, Syria, and Tunisia. …
