Jarmusch Joins Cannes Competition

Article excerpt

Jim Jarmusch's vampire romance Only Lovers Left Alive, starring Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston, has been added to the Cannes Film Festival's Competition line-up; four more titles to be included in Out of Competition and Un Certain Regard.

The UK-Germany-US horror-romance, produced out of the UK by Jeremy Thomas' RPC, is the sole British production in this year's Competition lineup.

Only Lovers Left Alive stars Hiddleston as underground musician Adam who reunites with his lover Eve, played by Swinton, after he becomes tired with the direction of human society. The pair have a love story that spans several centuries. But their love is tested by Eve's wild and uncontrollable sister Ava, played by Mia Wasikowska.

The film, which also includes John Hurt and Anton Yelchin, will compete for the Palme d'Or alongside 19 other nominees [click here for full list].
