Nine international research funders are partnering with the National Endowment for the Humanities in round three of the Digging into Data Challenge, a grant competition designed to spur computationally intensive research in the humanities and social sciences. The deadline for applications is May 15, 2013.

The sponsors include the Arts & Humanities Research Council and the Economic & Social Research Council, both of the United Kingdom, and two Dutch organizations - the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research in collaboration with The Netherlands eScience Center. From Canada are the Canada Fund for Innovation, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Two U.S. agencies join NEH: the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the National Science Foundation. And Britain's Jisc (formerly the Joint Information Systems Committee) will have a supportive role by facilitating the project's progression. …
