Actor Richard LeParmentier, best known as the commander in Star Wars whom Darth Vader nearly strangles, died April 16 in Austin, Texas. He was 66.

LeParmentier was born in Pittsburgh, but moved to Great Britain in 1974. He recently had been living in Bath, England.

He appeared in more than 50 films and TV shows, but is most remembered for his role as Admiral Motti in 1977's Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. …
